Why am I doing
this?
Well, it's
my life interest I guess. People's lives fascinate me. I care
about my friends and their worlds. I've watched them grow and
change and been with them through pain and happiness, living my
own along with them.
One day, many
years after many exploits, I was sitting in a cafe with a girlfriend
doing the usual: discussing and dissecting our love lives. We
started to toy with the idea of writing a book together. It would
be crammed full of interviews and artwork featuring and created
by our friends and others, and based on their experiences with
love and how those experiences differ from their parents'. I'd
been tossing the idea around for years in university, but I suddenly
felt like I could actually make it happen.
After considering
the concept more, it seemed to make more sense to transfer the
idea into the format of a documentary. I'd been dabbling in video
production for years and teaching myself all the technical skills
over time, so everything fit together. Two years of hard work
later, it is now nearly complete.
This is a
labour of love for me.
At the film
conferences I attended in the last year or so, I talked about
making a Web version of the documentary, and one thing became
abundantly clear (I almost won some development money, but that
was a botch. Another story, another time): the Internet is the
best place for the whole project. The documentary will be available
for sale on the site and we'll feature clips from it here as well.
So here we
are. This is all for you. I hope you enjoy it and feel at home.
Please tell everyone you know.
Please come
back regularly.
