ultrapuss

Currently (since 2005), Camille sings and collaborates in an electro-rock group called ultrapuss - see ouriwebsite (above) for more details, with songs to check out on iMySpace and New Music Canada.

side projects

1999-2000 - One of the musical projects, was workingBernie Boulanger, from local favs the Colourifics, Jay Rose and Dave Bridges - later Martin Larsen replacing Bernie on guitar - in a group called swamp.e, a hysterical, punk-cabaret project (music clips on the Spiritual Heroine website). swamp.e allowed Camille to improvise, jamming freely using her voice instrumentally, while writing wacky lyrics on the fly. After a year, one guitarist change and one gig, the group fell apart.

1998 - Another project was working with Camille's SH engineer, Brent Calkin and Flavio Monopoli, on an electronia album Elusive Project X - a few cuts included on “Soft, Sore, Silence”.

Spiritual Heroine

1993 -2000 - A blend of swirling, mythological visions, with an edgy “ street sense” seem to merge within the sounds of Spiritual Heroine. Taking its cue from Camille Baker’s various musical influences: Middle Eastern music, Tom Waits, P.J.Harvey, Cat Power, Le Tigre, obscure classical music, her unique sound, sure to catch the imagination of alternative music lovers. She began playing bass guitar and writing songs with Clinton Rice in the spring of 1993. “Soft, Sore, Silence” is the last release by Camille with Spiritual Heroine, and is a more consistent body of work compared to the earlier full-length SH release, “This Body is Stolen”, the songs demonstrate Camille's bizarre style of songwriting more clearly.
