MINDtouch was a practiced-based PhD conducted through the SMARTlab Digital Media Institute (2006-2010), now at the University College Dublin. I was investigaing whether liveness and presence can be experiences during networked performance contexts, using mobile devices and biosensors, and explored this by creating a project that tried to embody technology through mobile media and social video mixing. I created collaborative, networked VJ collages or 'mixes from participants collected and live videoclips that were then streamed live to the internet and (ideally) to mobile phones during the live events. This is now much easier using ustream, but was quite difficult only a year or so during my project.
